We buy every kit ourselves. no freebies, no sponsors. Each one gets grown in our spare room under the same conditions, weighed, photographed, and scored. If it's rubbish, we'll say so.
Proper solid kit. Three good flushes of pearl oysters, the substrate was well-colonised out of the box, and the instructions actually made sense. Hard to fault at this price.
For fifteen quid you can't really complain. Yields are small, we got maybe 80g per flush. but the shiitake tasted genuinely good and it's a cracking little intro to growing.
Genuinely impressive. The lion’s mane that grew from this kit looked like something from a restaurant supply order. Tasted like one too. Best kit we’ve tested in any category, full stop.
King oysters take their sweet time but the results are worth the wait. We got thick, meaty stems you could slice like scallops. Needs cooler temps than most kits though, struggled in our summer test.
Our kids went absolutely mental for this one. Bright pink mushrooms bursting out within 4 days. They taste great stir-fried but fair warning, eat them quick because they don't keep.
Not one for eating, reishi tastes like bitter tree bark. But the antler formations that grew from this kit were genuinely beautiful, and if you're into making tinctures or teas it's a proper fun project.
